How To Remove Windshield Washer Nozzle
- Step 1
First remove the line of the washer nozzle using needle nosed pliers. You may find nozzle setup either by the firewall on the back side of the hood or you may find it on the wiper arm.
If your nozzle is setup on the wiper arm, you must lift up the wiper arms off the windshield to remove the line.

Then, take a medium sized flat screwdriver. Push in the tabs on the washer nozzle and take out the nozzle. If nozzle is tied with screws, unscrew it first so you can easily take off nozzle.
In some vehicles model, they have a hood protector, in this case, you will need a flat head screwdriver and a needle nosed pliers in order to release windshield washer nozzles.

In some vehicle models, wipers have heaters so you should first remove the harness attached to the nozzle.
If the harness doesn’t have any plug for disconnection then you will have to use side cutters and cut the wires.
Using wire strippers, strip off the coating from the wires so it will help during installing the new washer nozzle.
Installing The New Windshield Washer Nozzle
- Step 1
Take a new washer nozzle and place it on the same place from where you have taken off the older one.
It will be either on the car body on the back side of the hood or you may find it on the wiper arm.
Note if you have removed vehicle’s hood cover, you will have to reinstall it. Usually cover clicks back onto the hood or you will have to secure it using screws.
- Step 2
After placing new washer nozzle on its proper place, attach the line onto the new washer nozzle. Using needle nosed pliers put the retainer clamp back onto the line.
Then, install new washer nozzle with the screw if you have removed screws earlier.
- Step 3
As we have stated earlier, if you have heaters attached to the wipers and if you have removed its harness, reconnect them to the washer nozzle.
If you have cut off the harness earlier, then strip off the wires using wire strippers and connect it with new washer nozzle.

Then, reconnect the harness wires of the heater. If you have cut the wires earlier, use butt connectors with heat shrinking tubes in order to connect the harness wires with the washer nozzle.
For this, take two butt connectors for the same size of the wires. Crimp the wires using wire crimping to the butt connectors. Pull on the wires softly to ensure that they will not come apart.
- Step 5
After installing the new washer nozzle, test it by turning on the ignition. Switch on the windshield nozzle lever and check if the fluid coming out properly and spraying a strong mist onto the windshield.
Still, if you will find the fluid is not spraying out properly onto the windshield. That means there are some issues with the electrical connection.
If such issues persist, you should take help from any car mechanics.
